My Review

of

One Last Dance by Linda Weaver Clarke.

I’ve read a few books by Linda Weaver Clarke. One Last Dance was another great read. One thing that always keeps me reading this author’s books is her characters; they are engaging, funny and passionate. I especially liked Mr. Adams’ character as he was both witty and charming with an air of mystery about him.

The story itself follows Felicity as she returns home to look after her mother when her father passed away. She is curious of her mother’s odd behaviour as she is convinced that someone broke into her home, not only that but also her mother has become close friend to the mysterious Mr. Adams living next door. But after Felicity starts reading her father’s old journal she discovers that there might be a reason for someone to want to break into her mother’s home after all. But who? And why did Mr Adams take such an interest in helping her mother? Is he truly a friend or is there something that he is hiding Read this historical romance to find out.

I was impressed by Felicity’s character, she was a strong woman who had seen some of the world, only to end up back home where everything feels different. But her fun and adventurous personality has her following her father’s clues until the very end. She is not one to let anyone lead her or her family astray.

I liked the quirky bond between Mr Adams and Felicity, he has her pegged from the start and from the moment they meet you can tell at some point sparks will fly and they will challenge each other’s perspectives on the problem at hand, which made this book rather gripping.

Also, I thought the author did a great job of bringing out that emotional and special feeling of getting to know and remember a loved one through words of a journal.  It was special that Felicity rediscovers her father’s guessing game he played with her inside his journal. It felt emotional.

One Last Dance kept me guessing until the end and left me wanting to read this book all over again.  This one will be a story I’ll read again. So, if you like historical Romance with a mysterious touch and well-developed characters, this book is a must-read.
